In prior years, we selected 3 top males and 3 top females.Because we are only awarding 3 students instead of 6, the Dearborn Club has elected to increase the monetary award amounts.Paul Reader I became an Optimist, after several years of stating that I did not have the time, when I attended a regular club dinner.
The Optimist Club offered me the most flexibility of any of the service clubs in the area. That inspired me to keep attending and participating as much as time would allow.
I continue to meet new people through the meetings and activities of the club.
I still enjoy the fun and fellowship with my Optimist friends, as well as the times spent bringing joy to youngsters.

The topic this year is: "Where are my Roots of Optimism?
" The winner will then move on to the next level of competition.
I will then collect all the essays from the school at the main office before 12 noon on 1/7/19. The Next meeting of the Dearborn Optimist will take place at noon on Wednesday January 9, 2019 at Millers Bar.
The Youth ID program provides fingerprints and pictures of children to the parents and school. Over 2000 children from Pocomoke to Selbyville are processed each year.
Each Monday from September to December the Optimists visit a school or head start to process the children who have returned a permission slip from the parents.
